Out-of-sequence extension typically occurs due to friction differentials between the seal packages of different stages or varying internal fluid resistance. The stage with the lowest dynamic friction expands first regardless of design load. To fix this, our engineers use custom internal mechanical stops, optimized seal geometry, or integrate dynamic sequencing valves inside the piston blocks. This ensures predictable, step-by-step extension and retraction cycles, protecting structural linkages from uneven loading stresses.
While St52.3 (E355) is an excellent carbon steel for standard pressure levels, 27SiMn (Silicon-Manganese alloy steel) offers much higher yield strength and tensile limits. Specifically, 27SiMn achieves a yield strength of over 835 MPa after proper heat treatment (quenching and tempering), compared to roughly 355 MPa for St52.3. This high yield strength allows for thinner tube walls without sacrificing safety factors, resulting in lighter cylinders with improved payload efficiency for mobile crane outriggers and dump trucks.
